High Adventure Programs

The mission of the High Adventure Committee is to promote the National BSA High Adventure Programs. It is our Council's goal to have an annual contingent to the High Adventure Programs. The committee is responsible for the promotion of programs, leadership selection on sub committees, training of leadership, adventure planning, budgeting and overseeing sign up nights.

Philmont Scout Ranch is the largest outdoor facility owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. It is located just south of Cimarron, NM and encompasses over 110,000 acres of backpacking heaven. When an individual returns from a trip to Philmont, it has become a life changing memory. Philmont also operates the largest training facility of the Boy Scouts of America - The Philmont Training Center. Attendance to the Philmont Training Center is by invitation only.

The Northern Tier High Adventure Base is located near the peaceful and beautiful Boundary Waters of the United States and Canada. Options are available to attend the base camp in Ely, MN for shorter trips or take an extended excursion into the Quetico Provincial Park of Canada. Either way the portage is usually never more than 1 mile. This is a great option for those who think they would not be able to backpack 10-15 miles a day in the high altitude but still want a high adventure experience.

The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base offers unique educational aquatic programs like sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving and conservation courses. Located in Islamorada, the heart of the Florida Keys, the near shore reefs offer unparalleled opportunities for long term and short term programs year round. The new Conference facilities are utilized for youth and adult Scouting Conferences and non-Scouting groups when available.
